Since the coronavirus struck in the UK, and especially since the lockdown period commenced at the end of March, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of spirit and kindness of our local community.
We have received donations of numerous and ingenious makes of face visors, some superb scrubs for our GP’s, hand gels and a wide range of delicious cakes and other goodies. While we know that we are performing a vital role for the country at an extremely difficult time, we are humbled by the continued support of the community, and of course recognise fully the many other key workers who do not necessarily receive the same level of praise. We have written individually to the schools and community groups who have provided equipment of various sorts but do not always have addresses when cakes and sweets are very kindly handed in.
In addition to this, a large number of people have volunteered their services in a variety of capacities. Many of these are already helping to deliver medication to our more vulnerable patients, but we are aware that we have not been able to utilise everyone. We hope you know that your generous offer of your time is still very much appreciated.
