The NHS Prescription Charge – with effect from April 2021

Prescription charges in England rose by 20p to £9.35 per item from April 1, 2021.

Pre-payment certificates (PPCs)  rose in price for patients who need at least four items per month, or 12 per year.  The new costs for the PPCs are £30.25 for three months, or £108.10 per year.

The NHS prescription charge is a contribution to the NHS: it is not a payment to the surgery or its dispensary and is not related to the cost of your medicine(s).
